Minia University Ranks 641st Globally and 21st in Africa in the 2025 US News Global University Rankings

Prof. Dr. Essam El-Din Sadeq Farhat, President of Minia University, announced a significant and remarkable leap for the university in the prestigious 2025 US News Best Global Universities Rankings, where Minia University was listed among the top 1000 universities worldwide, securing the 641st position globally, 21st in Africa, and 11th among Egyptian public, private, national, and international universities. This ranking covers a wide range of natural, applied, engineering, medical, and pharmaceutical sciences.

The university was ranked among the top 500 universities globally in five academic disciplines:

  • 72nd in Energy and Fuels

  • 165th in Pharmacology and Toxicology

  • 184th in Engineering

  • 254th in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  • 349th in Computer Science

Additionally, Minia University was ranked among the top 1000 universities globally in three other fields:

  • 574th in Biology and Biochemistry

  • 674th in Chemistry

  • 951st in Clinical Medicine

Prof. Dr. Farhat extended his congratulations to the university’s faculty, staff, and entire academic community on this outstanding achievement and distinguished ranking on the global, African, and national levels. He praised the continued progress of the university and its ability to maintain advanced positions, valuing the dedication and efforts of its scientists and researchers in advancing scientific publication and academic excellence.

He also emphasized that the US News ranking is one of the most important global university rankings, relying on a set of objective criteria, including academic research reputation, the number of research publications by university scholars, and citation impact of these publications.

The evaluation is based on five main areas:

  • Teaching

  • Research environment and quality

  • Industry engagement

  • International outlook

Prof. Dr. Farhat affirmed that international university rankings are powerful tools for performance evaluation, contributing to the enhancement of education and research quality, motivating both researchers and students, and helping students make informed choices. Furthermore, such rankings bolster the global competitiveness of graduates in the job market
