Prof. Dr. Essam Farahat, President of Minia University, announced the issuance of the ministerial decree approving the launch of academic studies, starting from the 2025/2026 academic year, in two new programs at the Faculty of Computers and Information, namely: Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, and Cybersecurity.

The programs are open to students from the Science and Mathematics streams of the General Secondary Education (Thanaweya Amma), as well as transfer students from other Faculties of Computers and Information, provided they meet at least the minimum admission requirements set for public faculties of computers and information for both Science and Mathematics streams.

Dr. Farahat emphasized that these new programs represent a qualitative step towards preparing technically, professionally, and academically qualified graduates who are capable of keeping pace with technological advancements and meeting the needs of the labor market. He added that the University is working on updating its study regulations and applying continuous assessment mechanisms to its academic programs, in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education, in order to ensure compliance with quality education standards.

He further noted that the University has provided all the necessary infrastructure and resources for the programs, which will be offered under the credit-hour system, and has received specialized committees to evaluate the readiness of the Faculty to launch the programs.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Essam Halim, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, stated that the two programs aim to prepare graduates capable of advancing in the fields of artificial intelligence, data analysis, and cybersecurity. This will be achieved by equipping students with advanced academic knowledge, practical skills, hands-on training in real-world work environments, and enhancing their research and consultancy capabilities, alongside fostering cybersecurity awareness to protect digital assets and address cyber challenges.
